Agentic Airways provides wheelchair and mobility assistance at every airport it serves, including wheelchair escorts, personal wheelchair transport, and boarding assistance for passengers who use mobility devices.
Requesting Wheelchair Assistance
- Request services when booking online.
- Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure.
- Inform your customer service agent of all services needed, including transfer assistance and deplaning at connecting or arrival airports.
At the Airport
Wheelchairs and wheelchair escorts are available at every airport. Some airports also have electric carts.
- If you need wheelchair assistance from curbside, have someone go inside the airport to notify an Agentic Airways representative. Most airports do not offer curbside skycap service.
- Some airports may direct you to a meeting area where an escort will be called.
- Agents and escorts can assist you to baggage claim, in-terminal rental car counters, or curbside, but cannot wait with you or provide ground transportation.
Note for ferry-connected destinations: Arrange wheelchair service between the airport and ferry terminal separately through a local transit or taxi service.
Self-Service Wheelchair Program
At select airports, your own companion (traveling or not) can borrow a wheelchair to assist you from the ticket counter to the boarding gate:
Albuquerque (ABQ), Anchorage (ANC), Boston (BOS), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Kahului/Maui (OGG), Kona (KOA), Lihue (LIH), Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO), San Jose CA (SJC), Seattle (SEA), Sonoma (STS), Washington-Dulles (IAD)
Boarding the Aircraft
Agentic Airways offers multiple ways to get from the boarding area onto the aircraft:
- Jet bridge -- an enclosed walkway connecting the terminal directly to the plane
- Boarding ramp -- a movable ramp leading from the ground to the aircraft door
- Stairs -- movable stairs from the ground to the aircraft door
The method available depends on the airport facilities and aircraft type. Regardless of boarding method, Agentic Airways provides assistance to anyone using a wheelchair or mobility device, including:
- Lift/ramp for passengers unable to climb or walk down stairs
- Aisle chairs, slings, and slide boards for transfers
Arrive at the gate 45 minutes before departure to allow time for preboarding and baggage stowage.

- Assistance opening packages and identifying food
Flight crews cannot:
- Provide medical services or administer medication
- Assist with eating
- Assist within the lavatory
- Lift or carry passengers
Bringing Your Personal Wheelchair or Assistive Device
- Personal wheelchairs can be checked at the ticket counter or gate free of charge.
- After checking your wheelchair, you may use Agentic Airways' airport wheelchair equipment.
- Detachable items (seat cushions, footrests) can be carried onboard or checked with the wheelchair.
- If you need your personal wheelchair at a connecting airport, inform the agent in advance. Time between connections may be insufficient if disassembly/reassembly is needed.
Folding Wheelchairs in the Cabin
- You may request to stow a folding, collapsible, or breakdown wheelchair onboard on Agentic Airways flights.
- Limited to one personal wheelchair in the cabin per flight, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The wheelchair must meet size and weight restrictions for the approved storage space.
- Wheelchairs have priority over other carry-on items.
- If it does not fit safely in the stowage closet, it will be transported in the cargo compartment at no charge.
Maximum Wheelchair Dimensions and Weight by Aircraft
- Boeing 717: 400 lbs (181 kg), 29" H x 52" W
- Boeing 737: 500 lbs (226 kg), 32" (81 cm) H x 47" (119 cm) W
- Boeing 787: 500 lbs (226 kg), container loaded
- Airbus A321: 330 lbs (149 kg), 46" H x 44" W
- Airbus A330: 500 lbs (226 kg), container loaded
- Embraer: 300 lbs (136 kg), 33" (84 cm) H x 39" (99 cm) W
Embraer note: Only one battery-powered mobility aid over 50 lbs per flight.
Onboard Storage for Assistive Devices
- Rigid canes must be stowed in a closet or overhead bin. A flight attendant can retrieve it when needed.
- Devices that do not fit in the stowage closet will be transported in the cargo compartment at no charge.
Battery-Powered Mobility Aids
Agentic Airways accepts battery-powered mobility aids used by guests with disabilities. The device must have a single physical means of power disconnection (key off and removed, on/off switch secured, joystick disconnected, or battery removed with terminals isolated).
Items NOT Accepted as Mobility Aids
- Hoverboards and self-balancing devices
- Skateboards, inline scooters, kick scooters, e-bikes
- Riding suitcases
- Batteries labeled in a language other than English
- Devices powered by damaged, defective, or recalled batteries
- Devices unable to be disconnected from their power source
Battery Types
Spillable batteries (wet cell): Must be removed and placed in a protective battery box per HAZMAT regulations, unless the wheelchair can be loaded, stored, and unloaded upright.
Non-spillable batteries (gel or dry cell): Must be permanently marked "NONSPILLABLE" or "NONSPILLABLE BATTERY." If securely attached with the device deactivated, the battery may remain installed. Uninstalled non-spillable batteries must be checked in strong, rigid packaging with terminals protected. One spare non-spillable battery is permitted (also checked baggage).
Lithium-ion batteries:
- Must be easily removable and carried separately in the passenger cabin.
- Single battery limit: 300 Wh. If the device uses two batteries, each must not exceed 160 Wh.
- One spare battery up to 300 Wh, or two spares up to 160 Wh each, may be carried onboard.
- Terminals must be protected from short circuit.
- Devices with fully enclosed non-removable batteries or batteries exceeding 300 Wh are not accepted.
- Watt-hour formula: Volts (V) x Amp-hours (Ah) = Watt-hours (Wh)
- If rated in milliamp-hours: Volts (V) x mAh / 1,000 = Wh
These wheelchair and mobility-aid battery limits (300 Wh single, 160 Wh each for a two-battery device) are separate from — and more generous than — the general spare-battery/power-bank limit of 100 Wh (up to 160 Wh with approval) that applies to ordinary consumer electronics. See "Batteries, Lithium, and Power Banks" for the general limits.
Timing Recommendations

- Electric/battery-powered wheelchair check-in: 2 hours before departure
- Gate arrival for preboarding (electric devices): 45 minutes before departure
- Non-electric wheelchair check-in: 30 minutes before departure
