Unaccompanied Minors (Meridian Young Flyers): Ages, Fees & Rules

Agentic Airways' Meridian Young Flyers program supervises children traveling without an adult, escorting them through boarding, the flight, any connection, and handoff to the approved adult at the destination.

Who must use the program (by age)

AgeRequirement
Under 5May not travel alone — must travel with someone 18+.
5–7Must use the Unaccompanied Minor service. Nonstop or direct flights only (no connections).
8–12Must use the Unaccompanied Minor service. May travel on connecting flights with limits (see below).
13–17Service is optional — they may travel as a regular passenger, or use the service for added supervision (fee applies).

A child is considered to be traveling alone if not accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or another passenger at least 18 years old.

Fees

  • $50 each way for nonstop or direct flights.
  • $75 each way for connecting itineraries.
  • The fee covers up to two children traveling together on the same itinerary in some cases — confirm at booking.
  • The unaccompanied-minor fee is waived for all Meridian Club elite members — that is, members at Meridian Silver, Meridian Gold, or Meridian Platinum (Meridian Platinum is our top elite tier). If you hold one of these tiers, the fee is automatically waived on your booking.

Flight restrictions

  • Connections (ages 8–12): No layover longer than 2 hours, and no booking onto the last flight of the day unless there is no other option (to avoid a stranded child if a flight is canceled).
  • No red-eye / overnight travel: Children may not be booked on flights departing between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, with limited exceptions (e.g., certain international flights, short-haul flights of 2 hours or less, or markets with only one connection per day).
  • Direct/nonstop only for ages 5–7.

At the airport — drop-off and pickup

  • The adult dropping the child off must stay at the airport until the flight has departed (in case of delay or cancellation).
  • The adult picking up the child must be the person named on the form, must arrive in time to meet the flight, and must present valid government-issued photo ID. The child will only be released to the pre-designated adult.
  • Plan to check in at the airport (the service typically can't be completed via mobile/kiosk alone) and allow extra time to complete the unaccompanied-minor paperwork and receive a gate pass for the dropping-off adult.

Required information

When booking, provide the names, addresses, and phone numbers of both the dropping-off adult and the picking-up adult.
