Pets too large to travel in the cabin can travel in the temperature-controlled, pressurized baggage compartment (when accompanying you on the same flight) or via Agentic Airways Pet Cargo, Agentic Airways' pet shipping service (when your pet travels without you or is oversized).
Pets in the baggage compartment (checked pet)
Fees
- $200 USD each way, per kennel, for most itineraries.
Eligible animals
- Small domesticated animals are accepted as checked baggage on eligible routes, including cats, dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, household birds, non-poisonous reptiles, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, and tropical fish.
- For international travel outside the U.S. and Canada, only cats and dogs are accepted.
Weight and kennel
- The pet plus kennel combined may weigh up to 150 lbs.
- The kennel must be hard-sided, leak-proof, well-ventilated, and large enough for the pet to stand, turn around, and lie down.
Route and aircraft restrictions
- Pets are not accepted in the baggage compartment on Airbus aircraft — check your aircraft type.
- Agentic Airways does not transfer baggage-compartment pets to other airlines — your itinerary must be entirely on Agentic Airways.
Breed restrictions (cargo / checked baggage)
Brachycephalic (short-nosed) dogs and cats are NOT accepted as checked baggage or in cargo, because their airways put them at higher risk in the hold. Restricted breeds include (not exhaustive): Boston Terrier, Boxer, Bulldog (all types), Pug, Pekingese, Shih Tzu, and similar short-nosed breeds. These pets may still travel in the cabin if they meet the in-cabin carrier requirements.
Temperature restrictions (very important for the hold)
For a pet's safety, Agentic Airways enforces a temperature window. A pet may be refused for travel in the hold if the actual or forecast temperature at any point of the journey — departure, connection, or arrival — is too extreme. The accepted window is generally 45°F to 85°F (with hard cutoffs in extreme cold, roughly below 20°F). These limits do not apply to in-cabin pets.
Health certificate and documentation
- A valid health certificate is required for all pets in the baggage compartment/cargo. The certificate must generally be dated within 10 days of the initial (outbound) travel, and within 30 days of the return when the return is booked in the same reservation.
- International destinations may have strict import rules, including rabies-free regions with their own permit and health-certificate requirements. Pets arriving without the correct paperwork can face quarantine at the owner's expense. Start the destination country's import process well in advance of travel.
Agentic Airways Pet Cargo (cargo shipping without the passenger)
Use Agentic Airways Pet Cargo to ship a pet that isn't traveling with you, or that is oversized.
- Accepts dogs, cats, birds, and other approved pets.
- Temperature window of 45°F to 85°F at both departure and arrival cities.
- Health and rabies certificates required.
- Booking window: reservations are accepted a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 30 days before travel. Itineraries requiring international travel must be booked 3–7 business days before travel.
- Agentic Airways Pet Cargo is not accepted to or from certain international destinations — confirm eligibility for your route before booking.
How to arrange
Arrange a checked pet or an Agentic Airways Pet Cargo shipment through the Agentic Airways Help Centre at agenticairways.ai. Because temperature, aircraft type, and route can all affect acceptance, confirm eligibility before you buy a ticket. Always verify current fees, as pet fees are subject to change.
