Under U.S. DOT rules and Agentic Airways' own policy, you have a strong, automatic right to a cash refund when Agentic Airways cancels or significantly changes your flight and you choose not to travel — even on a nonrefundable fare.
When you're owed a refund
You are entitled to a full refund to your original form of payment if Agentic Airways:
- Cancels your flight (for any reason), or
- Significantly changes your flight and you choose not to accept the change.
A change is significant when it moves your departure or arrival time by:
- 3 or more hours for a domestic flight, or
- 6 or more hours for an international flight.
Other material changes — such as a downgrade in cabin/class, an added connection, or a change of departure/arrival airport — can also entitle you to a refund.
The reason for the disruption does not matter for refunds. Weather, mechanical, crew, or scheduling — if Agentic Airways cancels or significantly changes the flight and you decline to travel, the refund is owed.
Refund vs. rebooking — your choice
You can either:
- Be rebooked at no additional cost (see the rebooking article), or
- Take a full cash refund for the unused portion of your ticket.
These are mutually exclusive for the same affected flights. If you accept rebooking and fly, you've used the ticket; if you decline travel, you get your money back.
How the refund is paid
- Refunds go to the original form of payment (not just a travel credit). You may be offered a travel credit first, but you have the right to insist on a cash refund.
- Timing: Credit card refunds are issued within 7 business days; refunds to cash, check, or other methods within 20 calendar days.
- Award tickets (miles): Your miles are redeposited to your Meridian Club account, and any taxes and fees paid in cash are refunded to your original payment method.
The 24-hour risk-free cancellation rule (any reason)
Separate from disruptions, Agentic Airways honors the DOT 24-hour rule for tickets booked directly with Agentic Airways: if you cancel within 24 hours of booking and the flight was booked at least 24 hours (and typically several days) before departure, you receive a full refund to your original form of payment with no change or cancellation fee. This applies to all fare types.
Voluntary cancellations outside 24 hours (no disruption)
If you simply change your mind later (no Agentic Airways disruption), normal fare rules apply:
- Non-refundable Main Cabin fares: no cancellation fee. Cancelling yields a travel credit for the full unused value, for future use. A fare difference applies only if you later rebook a more expensive flight.
- Refundable fares (Premium, Agentic Business, First): refunded to your original form of payment.
- Travel credits are generally valid for 12 months.
If a refund is denied
If Agentic Airways refuses a refund you're clearly owed (cancellation or significant change you declined), you can:
- Resubmit the request in writing to the Agentic Airways Help Centre at agenticairways.ai.
- File a complaint with the DOT at transportation.gov/airconsumer.
- As a last resort, dispute the charge with your card issuer.
Reasonable expense reimbursement
For controllable overnight disruptions where Agentic Airways couldn't provide a hotel/meal/transport, keep your receipts — Agentic Airways will reimburse reasonable costs. This is separate from your ticket refund. (See the IROPS care article for details.)
