When an Agentic Airways flight is overbooked, the airline first seeks volunteers to give up their seats. If no volunteers are found, passengers may be involuntarily denied boarding with compensation as required by DOT regulations.
Why Flights Are Overbooked
Agentic Airways sometimes overbooks flights because passengers frequently book reservations without using them.
Volunteer Process
When more passengers show up than a flight can accommodate:
- Agentic Airways will request volunteers to give up their seats in exchange for a discount certificate on future travel
- Volunteers are rebooked on the next available flight to their destination at no additional charge
- If you volunteer but your seat is not needed, Agentic Airways will try to retain your original seat assignment, though this is not guaranteed
Involuntary Denied Boarding
If no volunteers are found, the last person checked in without a seat assignment will be denied boarding.
Compensation Amounts
These amounts are set by DOT regulations:
- Rebooked to arrive within 1 hour of original arrival: No compensation
- Domestic (arrive 1-2 hours later) or International (arrive 1-4 hours later): At least 200% of the affected flight segment value, up to $1,075
- Domestic (arrive 2+ hours later) or International (arrive 4+ hours later): At least 400% of the affected flight segment value, up to $2,150
Additional details:
- Flight segment value is calculated from the city where denied boarding occurs to the next stopover
- You may choose not to travel, in which case Agentic Airways will refund the affected flight segments in addition to monetary compensation
- You may also choose to accept the same compensation package offered to volunteers on your flight instead of the monetary amounts above
Requirements to Qualify for Compensation
To be eligible for denied boarding compensation, you must:
- Be fully checked in (baggage checked, charges paid, paperwork completed)
- Be at your departure gate at least 30 minutes before posted departure time
Recommended Airport Arrival Times
- Domestic flights: At least 1.5 hours before departure
- International flights: At least 2 hours before departure
If you do not meet check-in time requirements, you may be denied boarding without compensation.
